Naturally Sweetened Hot Chocolate

I made 3 different hot chocolate recipes: Classic, Immune-Boosting and Oatmeal Hot Chocolate.

Ingredients

CLASSIC HOT CHOCOLATE:

  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tbsp maple syrup, honey or agave
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp dark chocolate chips

IMMUNE BOOSTING HOT CHOCOLATE:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup, honey or agave
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp ground turmeric
  • pinch of black pepper

OATMEAL HOT CHOCOLATE:

  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 5-6 dates
  • 1 tbsp rolled oats
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Add 1 cup milk, dates and rolled oats into a blender jug. Soak for 30 minutes and blend until smooth.
  • In a saucepan, add the oat mixture, rest of the milk, cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt, and whisk well until combined.
  • Bring to heat and genly simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve hot with spoonful of whipped cream or coconut whipped cream on top. Sprinkle with rolled oats.
